Một trong số sách và tài liệu mà lớp học là cuốn Godwired: Religion, Ritual and Virtual Reality. Trong sách có trình bày hai lý do chính vì sao các luật sư Hồi Giáo ở Ấn Độ cấm tín đồ sử dụng nhạc chuông điện thoại di động là những đoạn tụng kinh Quran. Lý do đầu tiên là nếu nhạc chờ vang lên và người chủ điện thoại bắt máy sẽ làm tắt hẳn tiếng tụng kinh. Điều này là rất thiếu tôn trọng Thượng Đế. Lý do thứ hai, có vẻ quan trọng hơn, là rủi tiếng vang lên trong phòng vệ sinh có nghĩa là để thánh ngữ của Thượng Đế bị trùng tụng ở nơi phàm tục nhất. Xin trích nguyên văn: “One recent ruling by a group of Muslim jurists in India forbids the use of recitation of the Quran as a ringtone for one’s cell phone. Why? There are two reasons: First, if one’s phone rings, one will certainly answer it – and in so doing, cut off the recitation of the Quranic verse midstream, a sign of profound disrespect to God. Second, and perhaps even more importantly, one’s cellphone might ring in the bathroom – thus allowing God’s holy word to be recited in the most profane of places, a despicable act, and one that would never be committed by a human – but apparently can, and occasionally is, committed by a cell phone!” (Wagner, p.22).
